Milchreis comes under "sweet main course" or dessert and has traditionally been a favourite with children. The rice used for this belongs to the "round rice" family - these rices get very soft and sticky when boiled. Sushi - rice and risotto - rice belong to the same family but behave slightly differently when boiled.

So if you get Michreis use 100 grammes with 0.5 ltrs Milk, bring to boil with lid on and keep slowly boilinbg for 20 mins. Stirr occasionally. Then add 4 table spoons of sugar, 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon. Roast 4 tablespoons of crushed almonds in a pan, whip 100 ml of whipping cream nad carefully stirr into the boiled rice once it has cooled down. Spinkle with almonds when serving...
